We're delighted to offer a brand new line of Vermont-made wooden products -- butcher blocks, cutting boards and cheese boards -- made from the finest rock maple and accented with black walnut. The wood is purchased locally from managed Vermont forests. The woodworkers at Vermont Butcher Block hand assemble the individual pieces of wood so the grain lies in attractive patterns showcasing the natural beauty of the wood. Black walnut, a closed grain wood, is used to provide contrast to the light color of rock maple. The glue joints are staggered to strengthen the construction of the boards and blocks -- a sign of high quality. The boards are made with FDA approved PVA glue and finished with food safe mineral oil -- not typical of mass produced boards made outside the U.S. All butcher blocks and cutting boards have the care instructions laser engraved on the bottom. The butcher blocks are 2 1/2 to 3 inches thick, cutting boards are 1 1/2 inches thick and cheese boards are approximately 3/4 to 1 inch thick. You may "cut with confidence" on these boards.

Cheese Board: Black Walnut with Tiger Maple Accent

These cheese boards are made from solid black walnut and have approximately a 2 inch stripe of stunning Tiger Maple running down the middle. The darkness of the walnut provides a nice contrast to the light, luminescent hues and grain of the tiger maple. The small cheese board measures 7" x 11" x 3/4" and is supported by 4 white non-marring white feet attached with stainless steel screws. Wash with soap and water and dry immediately. Don't forget the cheese knives.

Cheese Board: Tiger Maple with Black Walnut Accents

These cheese boards have a walnut stripe about 1/4 inch thick sandwiched between two pieces of beautiful tiger maple. While most companies strive to hide the joints in their pieces, these are highlighted. The tiger maple is particularly unique in that it is very luminescent and the grain looks almost 3-dimensional. The small cheese board measures 7" x 11" x 3/4" and is supported by 4 white non-marring white feet attached with stainless steel screws. Wash with soap and water and dry immediately. Don't forget the cheese knives.

Cheese Platter: Tiger Maple with Double Walnut Accents

The large tiger maple cheese platter is accented with 4 symmetrical stripes of walnut. The walnut provides contrast to the light color of the luminescent tiger maple. (Note that this board has been laser engraved for a customer, The Fox Family.) The cheese platter measures 11 to12" x 17 to 18" and is over 1" thick. It's a beautiful slab of Vermont. It comes mounted on 4 rubber non-marring feet attached with stainless steel screws. Don't forget the cheese knives.

Cheese Platter: Bird's Eye Maple

Made from solid bird’s eye maple, you'll be proud to display an assortment cheese and grapes or pate and toast points. Your guests will ask you where you got the cheese board, guaranteed! The maple has deformities in the grain that form circles during growth that resemble bird’s eyes. Hence the name. The bird's eye wood varies greatly and only the best is picked for the cheese platters.

Chef Grade Butcher Block: Rock Maple with Black Walnut Accents

This end grain butcher block is made from rock solid maple and highlighted with black walnut accents. These chef grade quality butcher blocks are between 2.5 to 3 inches thick, depending upon the size. Chefs across the world choose end grain chopping blocks to protect their high quality knives. A forgiving surface, you are cutting between the wood fibers, instead of across the wood fibers, which allows the wood to "heal itself" and not scar with use. Both butcher blocks shown above and below are the medium size, measuring approximately 9" deep x 16" across x 2.5" thick. Doc thinks the grain pattern in the chopping block below looks like our very own Green Mountains, or perhaps the sun setting over the Green Mountains! The bottom edge and corners are chamfered to allow you to easily move the block and there are no sharp corners. They come mounted on non-marring rubber feet attached with stainless steel screws. You may continue to preserve with mineral oil or our edible beeswax finish.

Chef Grade Butcher Block: Rock Maple with Black Walnut Stripes

This butcher block is not only functional, but beautiful.. Alternating stripes of end grain hard maple and chocolate walnut are laminated together to form this sturdy chopping block. The striped chopping blocks shown above is the medium size, measuring approximately 9" deep x 16" across x 2.5" thick. The bottom edge and corners are chamfered to allow you to easily move the block and there are no sharp corners. It comes mounted on non-marring rubber feet attached with stainless steel screws.

Cutting Board: Rock Maple with Black Walnut Accents  

This beautiful cutting board is made from solid rock maple and walnut. This solid cutting board is a pleasure to cut on because it's sturdy, and it won't move. All of the cutting boards are 1.5" thick. The cutting boards are exquisitely made, just like the chef grade butcher blocks, but are more economical. These boards are assembled with edge grain (versus end grain for the butcher blocks) and will show some marking cuts with use. The bottom edge and corners are chamfered to allow you to easily move the block and there are no sharp corners. It comes mounted on white non-marring rubber feet attached with stainless steel screws. It comes pre-treated with food grade mineral oil. You may continue to preserve with mineral oil or our edible beeswax finish.
