Shaker Baskets: NantucketWine Carrier

The Nantucket collection meticulously reproduces the Shaker originals. Every nuance of form, every detail of construction, is pure Shaker. Details are strictly traditional: tight weave, half-round lashed rims, wooden bottoms and caps, solid brass hardware, bone knobs and multiple coats of lacquer.

The designs are based on antique molds to ensure authenticity. The weaving material is traditional North American black ash. The age-old method used to pound strips of ash off the log, following the growth rings, was the method followed by the Shakers. The baskets are woven in China, where time still moves at a pace that permits the level of workmanship seen in museum collections. The result: beautiful yet durable baskets woven to last for generations. We are pleased to bring the Shaker workmanship out of museums and private collections and into your home.
